Fractions 3 teaches fraction addition. It starts with matching denominators, then shows why common denominators matter when the slices are different sizes.
The key idea is simple: before we add fractions, the slices must be the same size.

Easy
Add fractions that already have the same denominator.
Normal
Convert one fraction first, such as 1/2 + 1/4.
Hard
Use larger common denominators like eighths and twelfths.
Crazy
Find the missing fraction in an addition sentence.
Teaching Tip
Ask children to say the denominator as the slice size: fourths, sixths, eighths. Then addition becomes counting matching slices.
