Game Purpose
Fractions 2 is the next step after counting fraction pieces. Children learn that the amount can stay the same while the number of slices changes: 1/2, 2/4, and 4/8 can all describe the same green pizza area.
The later levels introduce common denominators visually, so adding fractions becomes a counting problem with equal-sized pieces.
Difficulty Levels
Easy
Compare two pizzas and decide whether they show the same amount.
Normal
Choose the equivalent fraction, such as 1/2 = 2/4.
Hard
Complete an equivalence chain like 1/2 = 2/4 = 4/8.
Crazy
Use common denominators to add simple fractions visually.
Teaching Tip
Use the phrase “same amount, more slices.” Once that feels natural, common denominators become less abstract: we are cutting pizzas into matching slice sizes so we can count them together.
